$1800 Social Security payments on June 28: who will get it? - AS USA

Each month, the Social Security Administration (SSA) sends money to retired workers and to those eligible to receive Supplemental Security Income (SSI).

While the SSA has already mailed the first four payments for June, the distribution operation continues, with some recipients able to receive $1,800 in June.

Social Security checks: how much money is being sent in 2023?

In 2023, thanks to the 8.7 percent Cost-of-living adjustment, the average payments of retirees increased to 1,836.06 in May. However, for those who earned higher incomes throughout their career, the total amount sent may be closer to the maximum benefit amount: $2,572 per month for those who retire at sixty-two, $3,627 for workers who retire at the full retirement age of sixty-seven, and $4,555 for those who retire at seventy years old or older.

Meanwhile, average Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payments are around $675.10 a month. The maximum monthly SSI benefit is up to $914 for an individual and $1,371 for married couples in cases where both spouses are eligible for benefits.

Double payments in June

The SSA has established a schedule for the monthly mailing of payments. Usually, Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits are sent on the first day of each month. However, on some occasions, if the first day of the month falls on a Saturday or Sunday, the payment is pushed forward to the Friday before. This is the case in July, meaning that those who receive SSI will see their check deposited on Friday, 30 June. No check will be deposited in July.

Social Secuirty payments for those who began receiving benefits before 1997 are sent on the 3rd of each month. Similarly, if the third happens to be a weekend, then beneficiaries will see their payment deposited on the Friday before.

Who will receive a payment on 28 June?

For retirees that exited the workforce after 1997, payments are sent based on their date of birth:

  • Second Wednesday of the month: retirees with a date of birth between the 1st and 10th
  • Third Wednesday: beneficiaries born between the 11th and 20th day
  • Fourth Wednesday: retirees born between the 21st and 31st

June 28 is the fourth Wednesday of the month, meaning that those with a birthday between the 21st and 31st will receive their payments.
